We encourage and foster:

  • 01-Jul-2022 Our first project for the new Rotary year in health Avenue was done successfully at Puzhal prison for both, male and female inmates. This was a District Team initiated project and the following health camps were held.
  • Diabetic
  • Cardiac
  • Dental
  • Eye
  • Skin
  • Ortho
  • General Screening and Mammogram – only for Women
  • 01-Jul- 2022 Our 2nd health project of the day was completed with the handing over of 2000 sanitary Napkins at Olcott school.
  • Blood Grouping for new students and for those for whom it was not done earlier at Olcott – Total of 251 students.

We encourage and foster:

  • Project Ponytail – This is a project where hair is being donated to cancer patients who lose hair due to chemotherapy. Joint project with a few other clubs with RC Korattur being the lead club.
  • World Polio Day Awarness Campaign – Nageswara Park, Mylapore. While a few locations were chosen around Chennai by the District Team, Mitra participated at the Nageswara Park event. 9 Rotarians, 1 Ann and 2 Annettes participated. With a total of 12, Mitra had one of the larger contingents for event.

We encourage and foster:

  • We did NALAM-18, Health Camp at Pon Vilaintha Kalathur near Chengalpattu, on the same day as the polio awareness campaign. R C Mitra was the Lead club and R C Chennai Gemini was the participating Club. There were 118 beneficiaries. There were 5 Mitrans and 3 Geminians at the camp. 18 Mitrans in 2 different locations on a day for projects is something all of us are proud of.
  • General Checkup- 118, CBG & Hb tests-45, General Physician- 30, Eye checkup- 28
  • Ortho-25, BMD test-8, Physiotherapy advice-25, Skin- 10, ENT- 12
  • Paediatrics-25, Dental-30 (Treatment given-4), PAP smear – 9, ECG-1, Free medicines-118
  • This was done with the support of Karpaga Vinayagar Institute of Medical Sciences who sent a contingent of doctors to run the camp. The idea of a tie up with them was to ensure that follow up treatment will also be taken care of as the hospital is less than half hour away from the village. The RCC at the village supported with volunteers and local coordination.

We encourage and foster:

  • Support for Sri Lanka – with our Sister Club, RC Capital City, Colombo. A medical package with consumables from St Peter’s Medical College, Hosur, that was handed over to us to reach Colombo as a joint project, was handed over in person by Rtn. DGN Saravnan in Colombo.
  • Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy – joint project led by RC IT City. Free eye screening camp for Rotarians.
  • Say No to Drugs – session by Rtn Dr Rajesh at Olcott School for students from classes 9 to 12.
